The Detroit Experience Factory
We took over 30,000 people on tours of Detroit between 2012 and 2015, and the Metro Times named our tours one of the 100 Things All Detroiters Could Do in 2014. The Detroit Experience Factory develops creative tools and eye-opening experiences to encourage Detroit as a great place to live, work, and play.
In 2006, the company was established. DXF is now an independent initiative of the Downtown Detroit Partnership, having grown from a grassroots nonprofit in 2006 and joining forces with D:hive in 2012. It has become a go-to resource for newcomers and long-time residents of Detroit to learn about and experience the area.
House of Edsel and Eleanor Ford
Via their historic home on the shores of Lake St. Clair, near Grosse Pointe Woods, tell the story of Edsel and Eleanor Ford and their families. Tours, classes, and exhibitions are available.
It was founded in 1976. Eleanor Ford requested that the land be used for “the good of the public” when she died in 1976. The Edsel & Eleanor Ford House and grounds are open to the public for guided tours and self-guided strolls.
On the Detroit River, Detroit Outpost is a kayak outfitter situated just a 5-minute paddle across from Belle Isle. Our excursions begin as early as sunrise and end as late as moonrise, and we enjoy doing them seven days a week. We have private party excursions as well as weekly open paddles for you and your mates to swim in small groups. If you want to schedule a private excursion, please contact us, or check out our calendar to enter an open paddle.
